Still surviving

Lily is doing great, such a happy baby no matter how sick she is! She is doing so much better, he coughing has really slowed, its almost gone!

Nelson and I both got really bad colds, mine is improving, Nelson is right in the middle of it! Just as mine improved I had an unfortunate fall down the stairs and ended up in emerg with a sprained ankle... a HUGE thanks to Richard and Robin for coming out and watching Lily for us so we didn't have to expose her to the germs in emerg.

I am really hoping our family's bad luck will start to improve!!

Doing well at home

Lily seems very happy to be home! Poor baby is still so sick, but just seems more comfortable in her own house.

She has kept all of her feeds down and slept through the night. She is just exhausted, the coughing and choking take so much out of her. But my little angel is still smiling and making us smile.

Today she is being so good sleeping and eating for Mommy- its helps a ton because I am also feeling brutal.

Here are a few pics from this week:

YAY!! We are home!!!

Dr. M came in at lunch and said Lily has improved! She is sending us home with instructions to be very careful! We know this will last for weeks, so we just have to be comfortable taking care of her at home, and we are!

We are asking that no one plans to visit us this week as we want to get settled back at home and see how Lily does. We also don't want her exposed to any germs.

I will update later tonight hopefully with some pics.

Thanks!! and thank you everyone for your thoughts!!

still not ready to go home...

I just talked to the nurse, Dr. M called and got an update and together they decided she isn't discharge material yet. She really needs to improve her feeds, if they go down even a little bit then she will go on an IV. Dr. M is going to stop by at lunch if she can and reasses, and again at 5. So we still might go home today, but it all depends on Miss. Lily's feedings!

This morning she nursed for 5 minutes at 5am, at 1oz at 8, and 2oz at 9... That isn't enough... I am really hoping she eats well between 11 and 12.

Close call with an IV

Tonight has been a rough night so far. She hadn't really eaten much since 4pm, and then when she finally ate good at 11 she threw it all up- all over. I pumped and then fed her another 4oz. The nurse said if she doesn't keep it down the IV goes in- she has it all set up and ready to go. If Lily can keep this feed down and avoid the IV and keeps her next feed down we 'should' be able to go home in the morning. If she doesn't and we end up with an IV then who knows- they will then check her to see if she has contracted a gastro bug as well.

She is finally asleep now, with a belly full of food. I am exhausted and am going to try to get more than 2hrs sleep tonight.

I will update in the morning if there are any changes, or after Dr. M comes by.

Fingers crossed for her feed to stay down.

Quick afternoon update

Lily has had a quiet afternoon, she had a few decent feeds, one with a breathing treatment and one without. She also had one large projectile vomit, but she ate again after it to make up for it. She is smiling and laughing now while she falls asleep!

We are hoping if she keeps this up we will go home tomorrow!! If that's the case we will have to be very careful at home to who she is exposed to and how many people- keeping her in the seat if we do bring her out and limiting how many people come to our house to visit.

I have a list of questions for Dr. M tomorrow!

Staying another day

Last night was a long night with no sleep for me, but Lily got a fair amount. She didn't eat much last night or again at 430am this morning, so they decided to give her another breathing treatment at 6, she hates them! She cried herself to sleep and then woke up happy at 8 and ate 5.5oz, which is great!

Dr. M came by just before 9 and said she wants her to stay atleast another day to monitor her feeds, oxygen and chest. They said RSV gets worse before better, so we have to keep a close eye on her.

My mother in law came up for a bit so I could run to my parents and shower- its nice to feel somewhat human again.

Lots of people have said they would like to come see Lily, but we are asking that you please don't... Its best for Lily to minimize visitors- and better for you. RSV is highly contagious and can survive for hours on clothes, surfaces, etc. Those who have come other than Nelson and myself must wear gowns and masks.

Please feel free to message, email, ping, text- its easier than us trying to get to our cells if we are busy!

I will keep updating the blog, its the easiest way for us to keep everyone up to date.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, we really appreciate it.

It's RSV

The nurse just came in and informed us it is RSV. If you want to know more about it check out: http://www.rsvinfo.com. Or comment with your questions and I will answer them. I will get more details in the morning when our doctor comes in.

She is keeping a bit more down now and her diapers are getting heavier which is good. Lily should get another breathing treatment at 11 and then will hopefully feed again and then get a good night sleep. I am not sure if they will have me wake her up to eat in the middle of the night to keep her fluids up.

I will update in the morning after Dr. M comes in.

Please keep us in your thoughts.

Update

We have been here for almost 7hrs and she is doing a bit better. She is getting some breathing treatments every 6hrs right before she eats and they seem to help open het airways and make it easier for her to eat. When we came in today she was down 12oz from Friday. But she has had some good feedings this afternoon. We are watching her wet diapers because they are pretty light and need to be a bit heavier.

I am waiting now for the results from the RSV test and the chest xray.

WOW- midway through me typing this update Lily threw up her entire feeding ALL over me- thank goodness Kellie brought me extra clothes earlier! I tried to feed her again and she was a no-go, so we have to watch the next feeding carefully.

Through all of this, aside from a few crying fits she is very smiley and happy.

I will update once we get some results!

In the hospital

I knew Lily was getting worse so I called Dr. M this morning and they had me bring her in. As soon as we got there and she heard Lily's cough she said it was Broncholitis (no idea on spelling). So she sent us across the street to be admitted to the hospital for a chest xray and obsevation. They have also given her some oxygen to help ease her congestion. I will update more later. She is doing well- still very smiley and making all the nurses laugh.

Lily is still not feeling well

I hate seeing my poor baby feeling so sick... her cough just breaks my heart. Yesterday we had a family event and she did so well, she cried a bit but calmed down with me. Today she slept for most of the day and we went for a walk- the fresh air did her some good I think. Lily is amazing though, she is smiling though all of this!!

Here are a few cute pics of Lily- we had little matching outfits, hehe:

She is growing up

Last night Lily slept in her crib overnight for the first time. Normally she sleeps in a bassinet in our room, but I decided last night that since she has been sleeping for 6-8hrs each night that she was most likely ready to be in her own room.

She did great- slept for 8hrs, waking up only twice for her beaka (pacifier).

It was much harder on me than it was on her, she went right to sleep with no tears- I can't say the same for myself- I cried a little. But seeing her big smile when I went in there this morning made it all worth it- That was the best sight to see first thing in the morning.

Well, we are off to head out for a run - it's nice out, and Lily loves being in the jogging stroller! We are also headed out to see the Stars and Strollers movie this afternoon- "He's just not that into you". Lily is really cute when we go, she tries to watch the movie- she really cranks her head around to see the screen- I will try to snap a pic of it.

Lily's Baptism

Today was Lily's Baptism- it was a perfect day! She was so well behaved, she didn't make a peep all day and she smiled to pretty. Nelson and I must be the luckiest parents, Lily is such and amazing baby and she shows me that every single day!
